Paul: No, Kelly C just recently purchased a T.A. to repair his tractor as you will see in old posts about 5-7 days ago. As far as gear teeth going through rear end you "could" have some damage but I think since most pieces(compared to speed or bull gear teeth) are small you will not have to worry especially since you are rinsing & inspecting the tranny. Forgive me but my short term memory will not tell me what tractor you are working on. But a seasonal disconnect is somewhat hard to find. We get many people calling for parts, especially the coupler inside the tranny. Basically the seasonal disconnect allows you to uncouple the drive line for most of the time you don't use the PTO. This in essence saves wear & tear on PTO drive line bearings etc. from constant motion even though PTO is not being used. There is a splined coupler on PTO drive line which is decoupled when you removed the bolt and shift the lever/fork at the bottom of the tranny. It is generally found only on live PTO equipped tractors(SMTA/300/350/400/450/460/560 and maybe others). I would estimate that we find it only on 10% of the tractors we tear apart here. I would say it definately adds some value to your tractor.

Since this can be extremely difficult, you may want to fabricate the item or purchase a modern replacement temporarily, but eventually, you s
