Donald: I presume your system is already neg ground. If not you will have to use neg. ground. Just a matter of putting battery other way and reversing wires to amp gauge. You will find you have an extra wire in your harness. I always use that for an excite wire and use a push button type switch to activate. Push button switch important so you will not forget and leave on when tractor is not running. I also like to use a dual pulley on alternator, from a V8 Buick or Olds. This give gives a bit more leway in mounting as you can use either pulley. Don't be discouraged by the nay sayers, alternators are less expensive, charge better, etc. I have 3 of these going, one 6 volt and two 12 volt. My tractors start better, run better and ignition components last longer. If you need more info send me an e mail.

Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
