RAR, Most generators do 20 or so amps tops. You can get 6 volt alternators that will do 30 to 40 amps, though. Check the RC or reserve capacity rating on your battery. It's the amount of time it can drain at and still produce nominal voltage. Should give you an idea of how much use you can stretch out of it with your current setup. If you're using the lights for 1 hour versus 4, 5 or more hours of no light running (meaning charging time) you could probably save yourself the hassle and expense of an alternator.
