Hi, many years ago we had a 434D which is older version of 444. As I remember there were 2 hydraulic control knobs in front of the seat. One was marked fast/slow, this reduced the flow of hydraulic oil to the 3 pt. hitch cylinder from 6 to 3 gal/min. The other was closed/open, this controlled the flow of oil to the 3 pt hitch or remote cylinder. In the open position was for the 3 pt. hitch cylinder, closed was for remote. This tractor had 2 stacked hydraulic pumps. One for power steering and the other for 3 pt. hitch etc. On the Diesel the pumps were on the front right hand side of the motor running off the timing gear. The 2 pumps were bolted together. There is a filter in the suction/return line for 3 pt. hitch/remote reservior at the front of the seat. Since your log splitter works on the remote then your pump is working but would appear that open/close valve is in the closed postion. For normal operation of 3 pt. hitch, draft control level should be fully forward and should only be used for plowing or harrowing etc. Happy New Year JB
