Super A Transmission

I was replacing the PTO seal and had it flush with the outside and noticed a leak. The new seal was not the same thickness as the original so I was wondering if I need to drive it till tight. I'd hate to pull it out again. When this is accomplished does it get filled with 90 wt. gear oil? Is there a way to check the level of the fluid..I noticed a screw under the PTO lever and wondered if that was a weep hole?
