So far as I can tell the only things that need replacing are the springs, everything else is just fine (virtually non-existent slop and smooth operation without being too stiff). After cleaning out the water everthing was covered in a white oily layer of water mixed with the oil and after cleaning (with degreaser) the inside was clean and pretty well rust free. I'll replace the springs and see where that gets me, if it still doesn't work I'll take off again then. Thanks, SAm in NS
