Rusty Farmall is right. There was an inveterate tinkerer and machining genius named Harry Heisler who lived near Waterloo, Iowa back in the 1950s. He had several add-ons for tractors, but his "9 speed transmission" was very popular in that farming area (I grew up near him, but never knew him). His invention added a "hi-lo" lever and you ended up with 4 more gears between 4th and 5th. I drove a couple H Farmalls with this transmission...it worked great and was a fun thing to drive. He built a big house on his farm near Cedar Falls, IA, and it is still there. I'm now having my dad's 1950 "H" restored. After 23 years I found it and bought it last summer. It's already going to be a costly thing, but worth every penny to tool down the road with it. Now I have to arrange to get it to Wisconsin this spring. I need to find a good set of fenders for it.
