Many carburetors have 2 float spec's, Float level and float drop. Often, there is a little tab that presses on the needle to close it. You typically make this setting with the carburetor top upside down, and measure from a specific point on the float to the machined area that seals against the gasket between the carb halves. The other adjustment is the "float drop". This setting controls how much the float will drop if the fuel bowl is empty, and helps prevent the float from sticking in the down position. This adjustment is made by holding the carburetor top in the normal operating postion, and measuring from the gasket sealing surface to a specific poiont on the float to see how much it drops when hanging free. The tab controlling this is normally 90 degrees from the on that operates the needle. Post back with the application you are working with and someone can give you the float level and float drop specifications for your particular carburetor.
