In cotton country most shutters were taken off after about 1950 when fuel distribitors went to so called "hot fuel". Most tractors were driven by hired hand drivers and they often forgot to open shutters causing tractors to run hot. A set for a M in like new condition hung in my Dads shed for years. I looked for them few years ago and they had disappeared probaly sold for scrap metal.
