Look at your wire going from the coil switch to the coil. If you see no ballast in the line, you can pretty much assume you still have a 6 volt system. The best bet would be to take the generator and voltage regulator to a gen. shop and have them test it. They will beable to tell you if its a 6 or 12 volt charging system.
