Hi, my dad would do the belt trick with a 66 MH
that we used on a long belt on our NH forage blower. He would have me sit on the tractor, he would grap the belt and start to run with and then yell pop the clutch. This tractor absolutely hated to start with the starter but would start instantly rolling down a hill or with the belt on the forage blower.
Looking back this practice was not the safest but it worked.
