Bill, I think that 5 turns out on the main jet adjusting screw is too rich. After 10 years of experimenting with adjustments, I have found that on my Farmall 300, my tractor runs best with the main adjusting screw set about 2 to 2 1/2 turns out. I have discovered that anything more than 3 turns out will cause spark plug fouling and poor gas milage with no increase of power. My tractor also runs best with the idle jet adjusting screw set at 1 turn out. Setting the idle jet adjusting screw more than 1 turn out will bring on spark plug fouling also, and increase fuel consumption. Setting the idle jet adjustment less than 3/4 turn out, will cause the tractor to be harder starting due too lean adjustment, run poorly, cause hesitation and lack of power. The idle jet adjustment is very sensitive with as little as 1/4 turn when its near its best running setting. Thanks Ray in Pa.
