Will: And that is precisely what the Farnall 130 manual says to do. Can't be a misprint, on both pages 39 and again on 48, it describes filling with oil with hole at left horizontal. then turn fan so hole is at bottom to drain off excess oil, then replace the screw. The IT service manual covering 100 and 130 describe it much the same. I must admit I have always filled them at horizontal and put the screw back. I just discovered recently I have been wrong all these years. Can't be a major mistake, my SuperA and 130 fans are both still going. I did take the 130 fan apart once and cleaned it up, other than that they have never been touched.
