Ted: Another problem I have run into with these tractors as the get older, is ground strap running to the sheel metai on dash and battery box is just not good enough anymore. I use a longer ground strap and go right to cast for my ground. As others have said even new cables, if they are not large enough will not cut it. 1 gauge all the way with soldered on ends. I find the best source for these is heavy truck repair shops. that is what they are using on those big diesels with 12 volt. On the issue of timing or ignition, I put a new set of points in my 130 the other day. Timing was so far off, after the change, that when you accelerated tractor quickly, flame came 12" out of the stack. It was doing this on all cylinders. Moved the timing a bit and this stopped right away. My point is it never affected the starter cranking ability. Coil could be your problem, but I think not on timing advance. I have even seen these tractors start with number 2 and 3 plug wires crossed, they don't run very well but I have seen them fire up.
