The size of your tank depends on what you're going to use
it for. With a two-way cylinder, you can estimate capacity
simply by the volume that the rod displaces (Surface area of
cross section of the rod times length of cylinder) inside the
cylinder when it's fully retracted. Multiply that by the
number of cylinders you plan to use, and that will be the
absolute minimum size of a tank that you should use.

One other note: I've replaced engines on tractors like this
because the cam shaft timing gear isn't the same as those
from the tractors that were built for the live hyd. pumps.
When the pump was really loaded up, it shattered the
weakest link: the timing gear. That ended up cracking the
block, etc. Big mess. So keep that in mind. Make sure you
havel a good relief valve in your system to minimize the
risk of this happening to you.
