The gauge is a factory ampmeter. It works fine. When the thing is really going it spits out 20 or so amps... volts as I said though are only at 3.

That's good to know about the generator though. Maybe when they rebuild it I can tell them to juice it up a little more, to keep up with 8v. I hope that doesn't burnup the coil though. I will probably still have to replace the battery. I was stupid one day and accidently left the switch on for a couple days. Then, with this subzero weather... well, let's just say I'm not holding out much hope.
