Experiment #2: Take one empty milk jug. Fill it ALL THE WAY full of water. Put the cap back on, and set it outside or in the freezer. Of course outside will only work if it is not going to get above the freezing mark for the day. Make sure it's out of the sun too!! Let us know what happens to the shape of your jug.
As was said earlier other liquids freeze at various temps.
