The amount of the gap depends on whether you have a distributor or a magneto. In either case, the gap is measured between the point contacts themselves. It is done with the cam follower resting on the high part of the cam lobe. For a distributor, the gap should be .020", and for a magneto it should be .013". Make absolutely sure the points are CLEAN! The last thing will be to draw a piece of clean paper between the points to make sure.
