The iceberg is mostly submerged because the density of the ice is very close to the density of water. The density of ice at 0F is 99.3% of that of pure water. An ice cube in a glass of saltwater gives the same effect without out having to travel. As I recall, to be bouyant an body has to displace a volume of water that equals its own weight. Any 'extra' volume is carried above the water. A cork is much less dense than the water so it floats higher than a block of green oak. Iron can't displace enough water to equal its weight and sinks. The planet does seem to be getting warmer, but we are not so clever by half to be able to say why. In any case, it will probably raise cain for farmers.
