To Ludwig.....We are dealing with 6 volts and the shock hazard is minimal if any. Anytime when there is a chance of creating a non planned spark one battery post needs to be disconnected. These regulator wires we are working with are insulated and relatively stiff. It should not be much of a task to grasp each by the insulation and swipe one exposed end to the other thus creating a momentary contact. We are not polarizing the battery. It already has a charge and the positive post should be positive and the negative post should therefore be negative. The voltage regulator is not being polarized either. The task at hand is to polarize the generator to match the polarity of the battery since the battery was originally installed backwards.
