I have always checked and if it was worn I would
put a new pin and bushing in mine when I put in a new sickle. I just cut weeds and it takes a beating. Have a windrower for alfalfa and the sickle has a hard life. Most of us are guilty of neglecting our mowers I know I am for sure. When I work on mine evey year or so I put in new gaurds and sickle and rebuild the sickle once during the life of the guards
