My 300U scared me!

I was out playing in the snow last weekend with my 300U with a front end loader to see if I could move any snow with it. I had gone up to the end of my driveway and turned around. I was coming down with the bucket to low and by the time I relized I had no steering I was heading toward the edge of the road and about a 6 foot drop down to the creek bed. I just paniced, didn't know what to do for a second. I actually was thinking about jumping off. I came back to my senses and hit the brakes at the same time as I raised the bucket and stopped just as the right front tire was about to go over. I guess my point is that you have to be careful all the time and maybe think about what you would do in different situations. I'm new to tractors, but am gaining more respect for them. I felt really lucky after my heart fell back in place. Anything like this happen to any of you?
