You can have it changed over to 12 volts.I did the same thing to my I-4.Someone else here may know how to do it,but I personally dont.I took mine to a local str/alt/gen shop and they done it for about 85 bucks.I do however agree with Ludwig.It should start fairly easy on 6 volt.Check out all the cables real good and make sure they are the right size.BTW, I changed mine over because good 6 volt batteries are a little hard to come by for some reason where I live.
