First, let me ask how much you are making without a government subsidy check. Around here the average is half, or better, of the net is some sort of program payment. Second, why do you suppose that farmers have to run a couple thousand acres or have 3000 hogs to make a living today ? How did those old boys do it on half a section and just 120 hogs ? Third, do you suppose than anyone in the grocery store would notice if farm prices were twice as high ? Somebody else is getting 90 -95% of the price. Why don't you think that farmers have lost ground in the last 40 years ? Don't let your radio do all your thinking.
