I agree with Ludwig. Find out why you have problems with the 6 volt system. Changing the battery out to a 12 volt system only masks the problems that will come back and bite you later with the 12 volt system. When you switch to 12 volts you can add a resistor in series with the output of generator to reduce the current being sent to the battery. This is how the generator works for the cub and A 6 volts systems. On the dash of these tractors there is a switch that allows you to select LOW or HIGH charge. The LOW selection just adds in a resistor to teh charging circuit, whereas the HIGH setting shorts out the resistor. You could do the same or get the shop that makes changes to you generator to add a 12 v regulator. I would go the regulator route, that way you do not need to monitor the amp gauge and remember to change the switch from High to Low or low to high. Just my two cents.
