I bought a re-built gen and new regulator for an A from a tractor supply and it was crap. I took the both of them to an older gentlemen who runs an electrical service business for starters alternators, generators. He cleaned the
commutator, adjusted the gen brushes and adjusted the reg to the gen on his bench tester. He said it makes about 7 volts and 20 amps. $20 bill was well worth it.
