McClary, If it has a battery in it, how many cells does the battery have? 3 cells = 6V and 6 cells = 12V. Otherwise, assume it's 6V and go from there, it'll be original that way. Since you're rewiring it anyway, just be sure all the connections are clean and bright before you tighten them down. Make sure that the battery cables are at least 2 Ga. wire (bigger is better on a 6V system). Also, clean the starter where it mounts to the bellhousing and the mounting hole in the bellhousing so the starter has a good ground. Also, have the starter checked out (and the generator too) before you try to start it up to eliminate them from the problem list. Have a ball! Phil
