The frost plug thing occurred to me shortly after I posted. My CRS seems to be getting worse. Both my H, M and Super H parts book show this part, the M and Super H have one the 1941 H does not, so there was a change somewhere along the line. I got a 1 3/16 expansion plug from NAPA and installed it -- think it's ok but haven't started the tractor yet. I think the previous owner worked on it and for some weird reason did not install the plug. Perhaps the shaft did knock it out, but everthing is tight now. It leaked when I got the tractor, didn't think much about it, thought the pulley seal was shot so I replaced it, made another puddle then found there was no plug. Thanks for the replies.
