How do you know that the block is even original. In 60 years there is a good possibility it was replaced. Farmers didn't like the added expense of antifreeze , so they simply pulled the water drain plug. I have seen many cracked blocks as a result of that practise and replaced many over the years. Unless you got the tractor from the original owner you never really know the history. Another common fix for a tractor that jumps out of gear was to replace the whole rear end assemble with another, that then gives you a new serial # tag. A lot of these old Farmalls are "Johnny Cash Tractors".
