Kevin My '49 had uneven lift arms as you described on a solid bar. Upon close inspection you could distinguish a difference between factory weld and a patch job. I believe the patch was meant to adress one of two things; a typical error in judgement regarding the strength of the system while trying to lift or pull something or, as I understand my tractor was originally used to power a home milling operation, and I always wondered if these where altered to create more clearence around the works where the belt would have attached to the tractor at the rear pto pulley.
