You will no doubt have a problem getting the insert to fade to exactly the same color as the grille no matter what you do. If the M has the original paint as you said, it means that paint is at least 50 years old and has oxidized as well as faded over those years. Best to take the grille off and take it and your new insert to an automotive body shop and have them custom mix the paint to shoot the insert to match the grille. It will still fade but probably at a different time table than the rest of the tractor.
