SWD6 starter problems

Any help greatly apreciated, SWD6 will start 6 or more times with no problem then starter will sudenly go dead,it may throw a few sparks or some smoke from brush end of things. If i turn the cumunicator a few degrees it works perfectly well for a while before going dead again. I have tried cleaning out all inside's including comunicator and brushes but no improvment. thanks again Eric
