I noticed you have a IH 414. I am looking at buying an IH 354 that belongs to a friend. I used to use it every summer to help him mow hay so I am very familar with it. What interests me about your post is your comment about replacing the rinky dink glow plug switch with an old floor starter switch. I say this because that is the only problem we ever had with this 354. It is very cold natured and needed the glow plugs to start it the first time everyday even in warm weather. We couldn't keep them working. We went to a local IH dealer and bought new glow plugs and it didn't seem to help. We could clean the aluminum looking wires connecting each plug even though it didn't seem to need it and they seemed to work better for a while. But from what you've experienced, it's the switch that's the problem. Interesting... Tell me more. How did yours act with the factory switch? Thanks for any information.
