I'm almost finished with a restoration from a basket case. The transmission was the only thing done when I bought it, supposedly rebuilt with all new gears (have receipts for parts). Got it started, but transmission is messed up. The first three forward gears go in reverse, and the reverse speed goes forward. Story of my life... one step forward, three steps back... Looking at the service manual, it looks like the large differential drive gear is on the wrong side. It appears it can be installed on either side. That's all I can figure. Any ideas? Anybody ever rebuild one of these transmissions? I'm a backyard mechanic so could try to fix it if I had to, but may try to sell it as is. Thanks for any help. Rich with the goofy tractor in Florida
