I'm not the expert on this, but the compression chamber is a different size on the distillate and kerosene heads and compression is lower. Power with GASOLINE in a distillate/kerosene engine is less than it would be with the fuel the engine was designed for (that is what the Operator's Manual says). I have heard that you shouldn't use step head pistons with a distillate or kerosene head, I don't know if there is a clearance problem or if they don't work as well for some other reason -- someone will jump in with the correct answer.
