well took the whole shifter off the 460 today and my problem of missing the gate from rev to first ended up being the bracket that holds the gates together, the bolts holding it were loose and it could move forward and back.after seeing this had to take off the seat and battery and pull the top of the trans loose and pry up on the front to get a breakerbar and socket in there to tighten the bolts, but the lockdown tangs were in the way and couldn't get them as tight as i'd like so looks like i have a project for next winter.and it must have been loose since i got it because it's never worked this smooth since i've had it.
