Pete - Someone added that solenoid switch. The original starter did not have a solenoid - it had a mechanical (pull rod actuated) switch mounted directly on the starter. Presuming your tractor has been converted to 12 volts a standard ("Ford style") solenoid will work. Hook the battery and starter cables to the two heavy terminals (doesn't matter which ones). Connect the smaller wire from the push button switch to the "S" terminal on the solenoid. If there's a ballast resistor in the ignition primary, run another wire from the solenoid "I" terminal to the coil side of the ballast resistor as shown in the diagram (punch below). Or you can leave the "I" terminal unconnected if you prefer - it'll work OK either way.
