Lift jerky on IH454

I just bought a 454 that has a couple of problems first is the lift even without a load on it it is slow to react and jerky i have tried different posistions on the draft and response levers when it is jerking i turn the steering wheel and i can feel it pausing the same time the lift is.The fluid is at the correct level and the hydrolic filter has been changed,2nd. problem the engine is not smooth it is almost like it is sputtering since i have never owned a 3 cylinder this may be normal.Could it be the injectors worn or stopped up?
