Well, your heading mentioned having the head redone. I had the
head on my A rebuilt by a local shop. It cost $200 for cleaning,
milling, and new valves. A new sleeve and piston kit cost $300 and
a gasket kit cost $50. I measured my crankshaft journals with
plastigage and found that they were right at being too worn so I had
the shop grind the crankshaft and get me new bearings, that was
$200. An H might be more. This might seem like a lot of money for
fixing up a tractor but when it is finished I will have a brand new 1946
Farmall and they don't make 'em anymore.
