Guys, I did read the letter, and yes he may have said loot, but I have heard the term "loot" referred many times in my life time to money in general. What is most obvious from his letter, is that he is probably not the brightest star in the galaxy, and certainly not the most articulate master of the English language, and like many people not the most adept at transferring his thoughts to paper, but it still doesnt make him a fraud or a criminal. What i got from his letter is that he is angry to the core. While there are indeed Doctors who are ambulance chasers just as there are lawyers, The Insurance company has a right to insist that any claimant be examined by one of their selected professionals, if they suspect a fraudulant claim. They will also do spot check investigations. You mention "Shopping for a disability diagnosis". Pardon me, but isnt that tantamount to getting a "second opinion"? If you are in enough pain, whether physically or mentally, I should hope you or anyone else would seek second, or third opinions. I hate and abhor anyone abusing the system, and I of all people hate able bodied people bleeding the system, whether it be disability or unemployment, however, I still believe you folks are treading on some really fragile ground here. My question to all of you is, "If it were you, would you want someone trashing your integrity without knowing the facts"? I bet there are a lot of families who have been victims of someone at work going "Postal" who wishes the guy would have been diagnosed and placed on disability before he took a loaded shotgun to work. What I see here are a bunch of vultures soaring around a wounded, lame person. He may indeed be a fraud, but what if he isnt? Isn't it better left to professionals? And if the professionals agree that his claim is legitimate, then shame on those who would kick a man when he is down. I look back to my friend in the car club. None of us close to him had a clue as to what he was going through. He looked perfectly normal to us. Would a total mental breakdown be evidence enough for you naysayers? Maybe and maybe not.
