I have a nine speed transmission on my Farmall MD. The way mine works is that it has two gears on the input shaft of the transmission driving the lower gears. The shifter lever shifts these two gears back and forth between normal speed and high speed. You must shift with the clutch in as there is no sychronizer. The problem with it is that when you are in high range, the hydraulic pump (if you have a belly pump on the Super M) and the PTO shaft are turned at the higher speed. Mine is shifted with a lever on the left side of the tractor, but I think it could be installed on either side as they simply drilled a hole in the side of the transmission to install the linkage.
