As in the previous threads, if you're going to go to all the effort of making it look good, spend a little bit more time and make it work right, too. It'll make the tractor worth more when the time comes to sell it, and there won't be any mystery surprises for the next owner. Besides, the effect of removing parts at random from a mechanism designed to work with those parts intact is unknown, and finding out if the tractor will survive without them might cost more than just fixing it right in the first place! If it turned easy when you took it apart, it should turn just as easily when you put it back together. Are you sure you're not missing some parts?
