$1.99 in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. But a couple of important factors haven't been discussed. For instance, the taxes included in the gas price, both federal and state. It's hard to compare between states without knowing that state's gas tax. And a comparision between the U.S. and other countries like Germany, England or even Canada is impossible since those governments tax gasoline exceptionally heavy to support social programs. Also, the price is not going up because of our gas usage, but because we are so generous. We in the U.S. have helped many third world countries to a second world status and now they want gas. Gas to power their factories, cars and make products to sell to us. Supply and demand. We are now competing with more consumers for the same amount of oil. And the price will continue to go up until the supply increases or until the demand goes down. Or maybe the government will lower or do away with the gas taxes.
