I use some of the same criteria as Guy to determine different models. When IH changed the decals/paint on the later 1970< tractors this was generally done because the tractor had some type of physical/mechanical change to it. An example is the Tri Stripe 86 series. These have the PPH hydraulics, while the black stripes do not. VERY easy to spot a real Tri stripe from a fake. I'm sure that some math graduate has devised a formula to determine exactly how MANY different tractor combinations COULD be built.
