Scott: I haven't been following truck model numbers, however I am assuming the GMC 4000 is the same truck as the old 40 series Chevy. I had a 50 series Chevy and 20' heavy car hauler. Many times I have loaded two 6000 lb skid steer loaders on truck and Farmall 560D with 2000 loader and assorted other equipment on trailer. Those dual wheels plus the 20" tires make a big difference when hauling a load. I had always hauled this trailer behind my 7200 gvw 3/4 ton Chevy with a 4 speed and electric brakes of course. The first few times I pulled the trailer with the 50 series I didn't have trailer brakes, but in my opinion it was still safer than the 3/4 ton.
