Also it's easy to hook up a 6 volt coil for a temporary test, or if you don't care about original as a permanent fix. Disconnect the internal wire from the points to the mag coil, and the wire from the kill switch to the side of the mag. Find a place to mount the "new" coil (must be grounded). run a wire from the + post of the coil to the terminal on the side of the mag where the kill switch was. run a lead through a fuse and switch to the - terminal of the coil (assuming still 6 volt + ground). connec thigh tension lead to new coil instead of mag coil.
