Yes, Hy-tran. 1206 holds about 16 gallons, but it is highly reccomended that you fill them 5 gallons overfull. This keeps the suction tubes covered by oil on steep hills. Remind your friend that unless the transmission has been apart and updated, the axle housings on the 06 and early 56 series are seperate from the rest of the transmission, and must be drained through the plugs at the very bottom of each axle housing, and refilled to the check plugs on the side of the axle housing. He should have removed 5 plugs to completely drain the rear end.
