You DO NOT have to split a H or M to work on clutch or transmission. Remove coupling to hyd. unit, remove hyd unit, this takes 2 people and a piece of rod or pipe. Remove coupling between clutch shaft and input shaft to tran. Take out input assembly, remove top shaft, be sure to keep shims to reinstall or your ringgear--pinnion clearance will be off. remove lower shaft. replace all brgs, seals, and any gear that has rounded or broken teeth. 5th gear is the weak part of H tran. You will need both 3rd gears, 4-5 slider and input shaft, at least. Remove chips/shavings from bottom of case.
