PROGRESSION OF 1939 DESIGNED IHC TRACTORS THRU 60's

Just for interest, this is the basic design progression of the IHC tractor lines first introduced in 1939 (Cub 1947, C 1948). For the purpose of this progression, the transmission/rear end design/size remained basicly the same through each succeeding model (with improvements and modifications). The Farmall tractors and the standard tractors (W, O, I) differ in configuration but the tranmission/rear end is still the same basic design/size. Engine sizes often jumped progress lines as tractors got more powerful. On this list, all horse powers and all engine sizes to the nearest whole cubic inch are for gasoline models. This list is through mid 60's or thereabouts. A few additional models were introduced along some progress lines after that. C, SC, 200, 230, 240, 340, 404 H & 4 1939 @ 26.20 belt hp, 152 cu in 4 thru 656 @ 63.85 pto hp, 263 cu in 6, 656 last built 1972. H & 4, SH, S4, 300, 330, 350, 460, 504, 606, 656 M & 6 1939 @ 36.33 belt hp, 248 cu in 4 thru 560 @ 65.25 belt hp, 263 cu in 6, 560 last built 1963. M & 6, SM, S6, 400, 450, 560 9 1939 @ 52.36 belt hp, 335 cu in 4 thru 660 @ 81.81 pto hp, 282 cu in 6, 660 last built 1963. 9, S9, 600, 650, 660 I hope this is of interest.
