That "spring" thing: you know, I don't recall one being in there when I took it apart, so maybe it doesn't belong in this model. It would act to hold the plunger away from the fuel inlet and if the floats cannot overpower the spring tension, then that could be the cause of my flooding. I will remove this "spring" and see what happens.
